What is Stripe Test Mode?

Stripe Test Mode is a feature that Stripe offers so you can test the full functionality of your Marketplace without using any real financial information. This way you can experience the exact flow of a transaction before your site is open to real operations.

By default, your Marketplace comes equipped with something called Stripe Test Keys. This keys are keys provided by Stripe to use their platform in test mode. This way, you can simulate a transaction with Stripe as it was the real thing. With this in mind, if you want to use Stripe in Test Mode, please do it before configuring Stripe in your marketplace as explained here. 

How to use Stripe Test Mode as a Seller

To simulate the experience of a seller on your marketplace, create a user and select the Connect to Stripe option by going to your user's dashboard, Settings -> Cashout: 

After clicking there, you'll be redirected to the Stripe Connect integration process. If everything is set up correctly, you'll see a "Test Mode" message on the top side of the page:

Follow the usual Integration process using any information you like (it doesn't have to be accurate except for the phone number that is used for verification) until reaching the Bank Information section. There, you'll see the option of using test account numbers. Click there and it will automatically fill the fields with test numbers: 

Keep following the steps until the end and after you're redirected to your user's dashboard, your account will be ready to receive test payments!

How to use Stripe Test Mode as a Buyer

To simulate the experience of a buyer on your marketplace, create a user and add the credit card information by going to the Dashboard -> Settings -> Payment tab

For valid credit card numbers, you can use 4242 4242 4242 4242. For the full list of valid credit card numbers, please check: List of valid test cards

For CVC numbers, use anything you like and likewise with the rest of the information.

Then, you can use this user to try to buy a product or service and Stripe will process it as a real transaction. This way you can see your whole Marketplace in action before going live!
