It’s important to remember that a marketplace allows users to be both buyers and sellers - one user can be both a buyer and a seller. That’s the beauty of marketplaces; it builds on community. The sign up process is the same for every user whether they’re a buyer or a seller, however there are multiple avenues in which a new user can sign up.
Let’s go through each of these:
Call to Action Buttons
- You'll notice two buttons on the landing page. These are referred to as call to action buttons and they're meant to engage users. The left button is designated for users who are interested in becoming a seller and the right button is designated for users in search of a particular item or service - buyers.
If the user clicks on the seller button, they are led straight to the sign up page as each potential seller is required to sign up in order to post their items or services.
If the user clicks on the buyer button, they are led through a series of questions about the specific item or service they're searching for and then led to the sign up page. The buyer button essentially prompts the buyer to create a request, or as we refer to them, a want, for the particular item or service they're in search of. Once the user accepts the terms and conditions on the last page of the form, they are asked to sign up.
Once the user has signed up, they are taken to the "Post a Want" page where they can fill in more details about the items or services they're in search of. When the post this want, they are automatically matched with vendors or service providers who match the category, subcategory or tag from the buyer's want. This is how easy it is for buyers and sellers to connect!
Header Menu
- New users can also sign up to the marketplace the old fashioned way by simply clicking "Sign Up" on the top header menu on the landing page. This will take the user straight to the sign up page.
Footer Menu
- There is also a sign up link on the footer of the landing page. This will also lead new users to the sign up page.
